U.S. Division-South finalized the transfer of Camp Bucca to the Government of Iraq on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010.

The Government of Iraq took possession of the base, raising the Iraqi flag, and renaming the facility the Basra Logistics City. Brig. Gen. Randall Dragon signed the contract with the Basra provincial Government.

The turn over and commercialization of the Basra Logistics City is a tremendous opportunity for economic growth in the Basra province.

Sophisticated water and water waste treatment plants will provide clean water and waste treatment for thousands of Basra citizens.
